Head of Campus

Welcome to our first Term Four Newsletter. This is a term of transitions, and a time when we get ready to farewell our Peppercorn Graduates, and in just two short weeks our community will come together to decorate our Kevin Borland Hall in readiness for the 2023 Year 12 Graduates Valedictory Dinner, as tradition dictates.

A moment to remember Rex

One of the inevitable consequences of being a school with animals, is that we have to say goodbye to them, and last week we said goodbye to Rex, our Blue Tongue lizard. Rex had been a member of our community since at least 2013, and in recent years lived outdoors, rather than in his former fish tank, which allowed him to engage in more natural behaviours.  We have grown accustomed to him disappearing underground over winter, and it was always a lovely surprise when he emerged after brumating in the spring sunshine.

The children will have an opportunity to think about how we best care for our animals, and how we can ensure their safety before we take on any new school pets. Thei love and regard for Rex is evident in the grave stone they made.

Whole School Singing

This lovely weekly event is responsible for planting an ear-worm on a Tuesday which very rarely leaves before Friday. All families are invited to join us each Tuesday morning at 8.50am in the Kevin Borland Hall as the whole school comes together to sing. Ably facilitated by the Musical Mishes, we are learning 'Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head' - a fitting tune for a rather wet start to Spring.
