Reading

We love reading at the start of each day. We all have novels that we have personally selected that cover a range of genres. We have a variety of books to choose from in the classroom and in the school library but we also like to bring some books in from home. Some of us even enjoy a visit to our local public library. Here are some of the great books we are reading in our room at the moment. We are also looking at symbolism used by authors to convey messages in texts. We focused to start with on colours and have chosen the colour that best represents the book we are currently reading.

It is only week 2 and students have already been busy producing poems in class using a range of poetic & sound devices and symbolism. Here are some examples of our amazing work so far.

Mathematics

This week, we were lucky enough as a staff to have Michael Minas visit us for an interesting and informative Professional Development day at our school.  We looked at how mathematics skills can be taught through games and discovery/problem solving tasks. Michael has a range of amazing games that you can play at home with your child to promote maths concepts and skill attainment.  For more information, visit his fantastic site called Love Maths.
