Hi all

FOOTY DAY

Term 3 has ended with a big bang.  The St Louis Footy Colours Day was a huge success with every staff and student donning the colours of their favourite teams.  Nearly all of the AFL teams were represented, there was quite a few soccer teams, half a dozen Storm fans and one mighty All Blacks jersey.

The kids spent the morning rotating around different footy stations practising their handball, kicking and dodging.  They kicked soccer goals and dodge each other in the rugby tag field.  After 80 minutes of running around in the morning sun, they will all sleep well tonight!

A big thank you to the Year 6 students who ran all of the stations.  The Spirit leaders ran the music, interviews and ensure the rotations went without too many hitches.  Thank you to the teachers who joined into the organised chaos and made some telling manoeuvres to get the party started.

Thank you Mr. O'Brien for organising the "Have a Ball" trailer.  Our school was very generous in filling up the trailer with sports boots and balls that are guaranteed to put smiles on the faces of young children in indigenous communities.

DISTRICT ATHLETICS

On Tuesday, we traveled to Ballam Park, Frankston for our rescheduled Chelsea District Athletics Carnival.  Our team was chosen from the results at the school athletics day back in March, our cross country results and a few run offs at school.  We trained at school and I know many of the kids trained at home.   We were prepared.

We took 63 students with us and now have 38 students, including all 6 relay teams, qualify for the Kingston Division event in term 4.   In a day of many, many highlights, I would like to mention Abigail F in the Year 9/10 discus event.  Once Abigail knew she was in the team, she borrowed a school discus and set off to train.   She must have trained the house down because she did not have little aths experience behind her and she finished first.  It was great to see her parents, her "team", support her drive in such a way.

I would also like to mention Hugh I and Charlie T from Year 6 who stepped in at the last moment.  Thank you for supporting the team and competing the way you did.

PREMIER VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE

The Year 5s were involved in a lunchtime Premier Volleyball League each Wednesday.  It was umpired and scored by the students.  In the boy's grand final the Snacktime Zombies defeated the Killer Bees, whilst in the girl's grand final the Soul Sisters defeated the Screamin' Spikers.  Well done to all involved.

Enjoy the break everyone!
