Year 12 AM&E went to Divisions Gallery for a talk by Tessa Spooner -  the Studio and Gallery Manager - looking at this exhibition space -https://pentridgecoburg.com.au/whats-on/tracing-time for our Unit 4 coursework.

Tessa has managed a number of private and public gallery spaces and reflected that our students were exemplary in their demeanour and the quality of questions they asked.

She also remarked that it was wonderful to have the opportunity to meet with young artists.

On the 1st of September we visited the Divisions Gallery in Pentridge as part of research for Unit 4 Art making and Exhibiting. The exhibition on display was ‘Tracing Time’, exploring the work of five contemporary Australian artists who work with the concepts of time, memory and human experience.

Along with the visit, we received the opportunity to hear from the Studio and exhibitions coordinator, Tessa Spooner. This provided us with valuable information to help with our exhibition research in regards the presentation of our own artworks and the preparation for approaching exams. We learnt about how commercial galleries curate their shows, display and look after artworks through care, conversation and presentation considerations.

Our Yr 12 Art Making and Exhibiting students are finishing off their final artworks as they head into the end of their studies.

Here are a few of the works in progress and some already completed. We were very fortunate to have a practical workshop in how to frame artworks by Frances from Northcote Picture Framing a few weeks ago. Frances generously gave their time and expertise to students working across a range of mediums and surfaces with great results so thank you Frances!

Media Set Design KLT

Students worked together in groups to recreate a scene from their chosen Media product. The groups collaborated to construct their sets and characters out of recycled and found materials, using paint, clay and collage. Once constructed the groups looked at camera shots and angles to develop their narrative photography around their planning and storyboards. The sets pictured here were inspired by The Barbie Movie, Spiderman, Ice age, The Lorax and Manifest.
