Welcome back to Term 4. It has already been a busy start to the term. Congratulations to Mrs Griffiths who was awarded Level 3 Teacher status last week. This is a rigorous two-year application process and the highest level a classroom teacher can attain. Well done Mrs Griffiths!
Our gifted and talented students in the BRACE program have wowed their parents/guardians at the Night of Inventions held on Tuesday evening in Karrakin Block. I was highly impressed with the quality of investigation into critical and creative thinking our Year 5 students in this program have demonstrated. Mrs Griffiths, who leads the BRACE program, and the BRACE students are to be commended for all of their hard work since Term 2.
EDU Dance has commenced with students from Pre-primary to Year 6 students practising their dance moves. EDU Dance (and Social Dance for Year 5 & 6 students) make up our mandated dance curriculum and are taught by qualified dance instructors. We will be holding our evening EDU Dance Concerts in the undercover area on Wednesday 6th December and Thursday 7th December. Please see the calendar in the newsletter for more detailed information.
Welcome to Ms Cleo Jenkins a new member of the administration team. Ms Jenkins will be replacing Mrs Lindley, Deputy Principal, and myself while we are on leave during parts of Term 4. Mr Tristan Crouch joins our school this term in the role of special needs education assistant. Mrs Amy Gatchell is teaching one day a week this term to release teachers who are being coached on our new Pedagogical Framework. Ms Mia Kalotay is teaching in Room 27 until Week 4 while Mrs Richardson is on leave. Mr Aaron Vincini is teaching the senior PE classes three days a week for Term 4.
Parents/carers are invited to contact the Principal in writing if they would like to inform the school of additional information to consider for their child’s class placement for next year. Input regarding your child’s educational needs will be considered, however, requests in relation to the choice of teacher will not be considered as a placement factor. Whilst input is considered, this does not guarantee a request for a child’s class placement from a parent/carer can be met. Please email your request for consideration no later than Friday 17th November to Burrendah.PS@education.wa.edu.au
We will be holding an evacuation drill Monday afternoon from 2:35pm. Students and staff will be practising moving to the oval.
We are celebrating World Teacher’s Day as Burrendah Staff Day on Friday 27th October. Your child had the opportunity to take a picture of a hat home to colour and write a message to any adult at Burrendah PS. I encourage parents/carers to assist their child to complete this activity from the P&C and return the completed hat to their child’s teacher or to Reception. Hats are due back no later than Thursday 26th October. The P&C will be making a display of all the beautiful hats that depict messages of appreciation to Burrendah Primary staff.
Parent Board nominations are due Friday 3rd November. I encourage parents/carers to consider nominating for a position on the board. Nomination forms are available from Reception and were also sent out to parents electronically last Friday. There are three positions available.
I encourage parents/carers to respond to the 2 sports questions from the Board that were sent by text this week. To date, we have had 54 responses. This survey will close tonight, the evening of Friday 20th October.
