Kitchen Garden

3/4G

On Tuesday 3/4G began their 6 weeks of the kitchen garden program.

As a warm-up, to familiarise the students with the garden space, they completed a senses treasure hunt activity. They then moved on to the small group garden activities.

Tasks for the session included:-raking leaves for compost browns.-planting bean and sunflower seeds in small pots and punnets.-delivering freshly picked lettuce and leeks to the teachers.-spreading coffee on garden beds and adding some to the compost bins.-using shovels to finely chop the woody ends of brassicas.-preparing another garden bed for spring planting and adding blood and bone, seamungus and rooster booster to the soil.-tearing up cardboard for compost browns.-picking and washing broad bean and carrots to eat at the end of the session.

We love sharing our garden space with families, so come along to a session, all you need is a current working with children’s check and sign in at the office.
