VCE Japanese Excursion to Monash Japanese Language Education Centre

At the end of Term 3, Year 11 and 12 students of VCE Japanese Second Language visited Monash Japanese Language Education Centre (MJLEC) in Monash University Clayton Campus.  Monash University has a long history of engagement with Japan and maintains one of the most extensive programs in Japanese studies in Australia. Students observed MJLEC that has a beautiful traditional Japanese inspired exterior, garden, study centre and Manga library. Students had a wonderful opportunity to meet a professor of Japanese Popular Culture and Identity Study Unit. He gave students a lot of information on his personal experience and tips of studying Japanese language and culture and the possible future career opportunities. One of the current university students took us to other learning facilities on Clayton Campus, while explaining to us her university study experience from a student’s perspective. LHC students prepared for questions in Japanese language and interacted with Japanese speaking staff during Q&A sessions as well.  It was a very windy and cold day, but the students were inspired by this wonderful experience.
