Men’s Hockey

The Open Men’s team’s scheduled match last weekend was postponed to Monday night.  This gave the boys a chance to enjoy playing under the lights.  They also met a seasoned team full of former Collegians!

The boys controlled most of the play in the first half but could not find a way to score, although Jack Jarvis rattled the top edge of the goal cage at one point.  A two-minute spell late in the third quarter, when we dropped our intensity, saw Bulls score two goals.  The boys pushed hard in the final quarter and Isaac Shaw’s goal midway through the term gave hope but in a frantic finish no further goals were scored.

Still, there were plenty of positives to take away from the game: sound defensive cover, effective running and passing  and plenty of good team-play.  This was a very good game of hockey and the boys can look towards the remainder of the season with confidence.

GD Cross Country

On Monday 12 May we had our GD Cross Country team compete at the Glenelg Division Cross Country Championships at Casterton. We took a great team of all ages full of eager and excited runners. The course was a challenging one with lots of sand, plenty of uneven ground and kangaroos to contend with. Some notable performances on the day were Liam Dwyer, Yolanda O’Sullivan and Mania Bremner who all finished first in their respective age groups. Thanks to Casterton Secondary for holding the day and to Miss Dixon and Mr Monk for their support and organisation.
