Lunch Clubs

Our awesome lunch clubs are well and truly underway, and the children are really enjoying having a variety of options available to them during playtimes. Lunch clubs include:  Friday Dance Party, Gardening Club, Colouring Club, Chalk Drawing, Lego Masters, Chess, and more!

Lego Masters

Miss N had a very keen group of children enjoying this week's Lego Masters, with this weeks theme being "Wonders of Nature". If you have any Lego (or anything else) that you are able to donate, we will glady accept it!

Happy Families

We hope that you enjoyed the articles we shared last term. The two articles shared this fortnight may seem a little 'hard-hitting', but both are relevant to families with children in primary school.  "Why Safety First is bad for Your Child" is a little bit of a confusing title. However, this piece highlights the difference between 'risky' and 'dangerous'. The second article, "Protecting Our Youngest: Preventing School Harassment Before It Begins", has been specifically written for families with primary school-aged children. I encourage you to read this article and consider the suggestions provided, particularly around what we are modelling for young children.

If you would like to provide some feedback please email your thoughts to: admin@safranksth.catholic.edu.au

Insight Articles

Please remember, Insights are released once a week during the term and we will include them in the school newsletter. The membership also allows parents and staff to access all of the previous 300+ Insights articles. To do so at any time, use the below URL and password.

WALK SAFELY TO SCHOOL DAY!

Today was National Walk Safely to School Day! Several eager students and their parents decided to walk (or ride) to school! Walk Safely to School Day asks that we all consider our transport habits and try to incorporate more walking as part of a healthy, active way to get around. Although walking all the way to school isn’t realistic for many of us, it’s quite easy to figure out how you can build a walk into your family’s daily routine. You can teach your child the healthy habit of walking more by:

• Walking with them the whole way to school

• If they get the bus or train, walk past your usual stop and get on at the next stop

• If you have to drive, park the car a few blocks away from the school and walk the rest of the way.

Regular exercise, like walking with your child, not only helps them (and you!) beat chronic problems like obesity, heart disease, behavioural and mental health issues and diabetes. It also gives you a great opportunity to teach your child safe ways to behave around roads and traffic. Remember, Active Kids are Healthy Kids!

We would love to have you join us at St A's - would you like to help out?

As the school year begins, it's a great time to find out how you can become an active member of our vibrant community at St Augustine's. We always appreciate an extra pair of hands to help across the school for a variety of reasons. This term we will have Cooking & Gardening sessions, a number of sporting events and excursions planned. It would be great if you are able to get involved and take part. If you are keen to join in, please make sure you have a current Working With Children Check
