Term 2, Week 3
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week marks a significant moment in the life of the Catholic Church with the election of our new Holy Father, Pope Leo. As the spiritual leader of over a billion Catholics around the world, the Pope plays a vital role in guiding the Church with faith, compassion, and hope. At school, we have taken time to reflect on this important event with our students, learning about the process of electing a pope and praying for Pope Leo as he begins this sacred responsibility. May Pope Leo’s leadership inspire us all to walk more closely with Christ and one another.
We were thrilled to see so many families join us for our Mother’s Day Breakfast this week. We reached record numbers this year, welcoming over 509 mothers and students over the 2 days. The morning was filled with lots of smiles, conversations and delicious food. Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the event such a success. A big thank you to our wonderful and dedicated staff who helped organise and run the event to ensure it ran smoothly. Events like this highlight the strength of our school community and the positive impact of coming together in celebration.
Each year, our school participates in the Premier’s Reading Challenge, an initiative that encourages students to develop a love of reading and build lifelong literacy skills. This year the challenge celebrates its 20th anniversary with the theme, ‘20 years of words and wonder.’ Reading is a fundamental part of learning, it helps students expand their vocabulary and improve comprehension. By exposing students to a wide variety of literature, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and picture books, it assists in developing students to become well rounded, confident readers. We encourage all families to continue supporting a love of reading at home and to help students log their books for the challenge. Your child should have received their individual log in details. Please contact your child's teacher if you have not received them.
In addition to our ongoing focus on upholding our school expectations, we are excited to launch a new initiative around the value of Kindness. To mark the beginning of our Kindness Launch, students are invited to wear something yellow on Tuesday as a symbol of positivity, warmth, and friendship. This initiative will encourage students to look for ways to be kind in their words and actions, helping to create a school environment where everyone feels safe, valued, and included.
As part of our commitment to community engagement, we’re excited to share that each year level will soon be hosting a special event where students will showcase their learning. These events will be a wonderful opportunity for parents and families to come into the school, connect with staff, and see firsthand the incredible work our students have been doing in the classroom. Stay tuned for more information and dates. We look forward to welcoming you and celebrating student learning together!
