Around Our Level
Last week we learnt about the sounds the letters ‘c' and 'g’ make, and this week we are looking at the letters ‘b' and 'e’. We have been undertaking craft activities and even went outside to our beautiful Prep outdoor play area to blow bubbles for the letter ‘b’. We have been learning to write the letters in both upper and lower case and teach the cued articulation for each.
We would like to warmly welcome Miss Kayla Pratt to Prep B for the next 4 weeks. Kayla is a 4th year student at Deakin University, and she is very excited to gain valuable teaching experience at Yarra Road Primary School. Kayal will join us again later in Term 3 for a further 4-week final placement.
In Maths, we have been learning about 2D shapes, modelling numbers, and recognising numbers on both tens frames and five frames.
We had our second session of PMP last Friday. It was wonderful to have so many parent helpers to support this valuable program.
Last Friday we visited the Mother’s Day Stall, and our Preps enjoyed selecting items, making cards, and special items for their Mums and other important people in their lives. A big thank you to our Parents Association for organising this event.
On Tuesday, we travelled by bus to Morrison’s Reserve in Mount Evelyn for our whole school Athletics Day. Events included the bean bag throw, 100m sprints, vortex, hurdles, long jump, and obstacle course. The sun was shining, and the students had a great time. A big thank you to Mrs Hurley and Mrs Smith for their fantastic organisation on the day, and to all our wonderful parent helpers.
