Principal's Message

Term 2 - Week 3

Election Day

A big thank you to the amazing P&F (Parents and Friends) volunteers who dedicated their time and effort to make our Election Day BBQ on Saturday such a success. Thanks to your hard work, we were able to host an incredible event that brought together our community and raised funds for our students..

A special shout-out goes to those who baked delicious treats, wrapped items for sale, and cooked on the BBQ. You helped make the day not only run smoothly but also enjoyable for everyone involved. Your willingness to volunteer and contribute your time shows the strength and spirit of our school community.

A special thank you to the incredible P&F volunteers who also contributed to the Special Persons stall this week giving the students a chance to buy a special treat for a loved one.

Cross Country

After our successful whole-school Cross Country event, it was wonderful to head down to Ruffy Lake Park today and watch the 60 students who qualified compete at the district level.

Our students represented our school with pride and enthusiasm, demonstrating not only their athletic talent but also outstanding behaviour and a commendable sense of sportsmanship throughout the day. Whether they were cheering on their teammates or pushing themselves to do their best, each student displayed resilience, determination, and a positive attitude. You’ve done our school proud!

Congratulations to all who participated and to those who qualified for Division.

Bike Shed

Starting Monday, we will begin using the bike shed located at the back of the school.

Please be reminded that all students must wheel their bikes when moving through the school grounds and especially when passing by the front of the school. This is to ensure everyone’s safety and to maintain a safe, orderly environment for all.

Just a reminder: For the safety of all students, when inside the school no bikes, scooters, skateboards, and roller skates are not permitted to be ridden on school grounds.

This policy is in place to help prevent accidents and ensure a safe environment during busy arrival and departure times.

We would like to express our appreciation to all students who have been wearing their helmets. This is a crucial safety measure, and we encourage everyone to continue wearing them while riding.

After school supervision

To ensure the safety of all students as they leave school, we will have one teacher roaming around the school grounds to monitor and make sure that students are leaving safely. Additionally, another teacher will be stationed at the designated "Kiss and Go" area on the street to supervise and assist with smooth traffic flow during pickup. Please remember that school officially finishes at 3:30pm.  At 3:45pm we will make an announcement for all students who have not been collected to come to the front office. We kindly ask all parents and guardians to be prompt for pickup to help maintain student safety.

The Importance of Regular Attendance

Did you know that if a student misses just one day of school every two weeks, it adds up to four full weeks of missed learning over the year? Every day at school counts. Regular attendance is vital for students to build strong foundations in literacy and numeracy, stay connected with peers, and engage in meaningful learning experiences. Being at school every day helps students feel part of the community, keeps learning consistent, and supports their overall success.

Child Safety and Wellbeing

Our child safety policies on our school website explains how we support and maintain child safety and wellbeing at Mount Pleasant Road Primary School. It includes our:

·  Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy

·  Child Safety Reporting and Responding Obligations Procedures, and

·  Child Safety Code of Conduct, which outlines acceptable and unacceptable behaviours for all staff and volunteers at our school.

·  Bullying Prevention Policy

·  Student Wellbeing and Engagement Policy

Our students and families are important partners in providing a child safe environment. These regular newsletter reminders are one of the ways we ensure our school community is aware of:

-     our commitment to child safety, and

-     how to provide feedback or raise child safety concerns.

If you have any concerns about child safety at any time, please contact Claudia, Amanda or Jonny on 98781730.
