New Mathematics Curriculum - Assessment & Reporting

As we approach the end of Semester 1 I wanted to take this opportunity to share some changes that will be on you child/s report within the Mathematics Curriculum.

The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) recently published to all Victorian Government schools a revised mathematics curriculum (Mathematics Curriculum 2.0). The VCAA made these changes to help teachers plan their teaching and learning programs in mathematics, giving them more flexibility to support students to link ideas within mathematics and also with other curriculum areas.  All schools are now mandated to implement the Mathematics Curriculum 2.0 in 2025 with our teachers being provided with extensive professional learning in 2024 and this year to ensure a productive and seamless transition.

On your child's previous report, teacher reported against 3 strands of the achievement standard for mathematics:

  • Number & Algebra
  • Measurement & Geometry
  • Statistics & Probability

Mathematics Curriculum 2.0 now includes 6 strands of achievement:

  • Number
  • Space
  • Measurement
  • Statistics
  • Algebra
  • Probability (Grades 3-6)

Under the Mathematics curriculum 2.0, your child’s teacher will report against the achievement standard as a whole, providing a single, aggregated score.  Due to these changes, the first time you receive a report under Mathematics Curriculum 2.0, it will only show achievement and not progress as there achievement standards have changes. For all reports after semester 1, progress will be shown against the single achievement standard.

Further updates with examples will be provided in the coming weeks. If you have any queries about your child's report or would like to know any more information regarding the changes, please contact the school.

SRC - Do It For Dolly Day!

Our SRC representatives have organised a fundraising opportunity on Friday 23rd May for Do It For Dolly Day!

Do It For Dolly Day is a national fundraising day that helps raise funds to help support the campaign to try prevent and end bullying across the country, whilst honouring the memory of Dolly Everett.

On Friday 23rd May we will be asking all students to come dressed in something blue and bring along a gold coin donation. It can be anything blue, from t-shirts, shorts, skirts or even crazy hair!
