WINTER SPORTS

YEAR 8 NETBALL:
Every member of our Year 8 Netball team had a great, positive attitude today and were ready to have fun.
We took a while to find our footing in the first game against St. Mary McKillop College, with everyone trying out different positions and player combinations. Some solid defending by Abbey helped stop several extra would-be goals against us.
As the day progressed, we improved and became more comfortable with each other. This was evident on the scoreboard against Swan Hill College.
Zarli, Carla and Ivy were kept particularly busy up the defending end but managed to get a few turnovers. Footwork was a definite focus for improvement following this match, with
one of the umpires picking up every step by both teams.
Our last match against Cohuna Secondary College, we finally all managed to chant the same thing before going onto the court.
Strong goalie teamwork from Zarli and Abbey in the second half meant this was our closest match of the day. Some good intercepts from Brooklyn and Isabella and ringwork from Macey, Ally and Peyton helped make this an enjoyable match to watch.
All students should be commended for the way they displayed the school values: respect for each other, their opponents and umpires; responsibility by showing up to their matches on time; and resilience by taking on challenges and playing new and varied positions.
Thanks to Abbey for volunteering to umpire a match, and Jazlyn for learning how to score and doing a fantastic job.

BADMINTON BOYS & GIRLS:
Badminton boys and girls in their respective age groups achieved tremendous results. It was wonderful to see students demonstrating school values by explaining rules to new players, scoring games, and being substitutes for other schools.
Our badminton players were the best group on the day!
