Dear Parents and Friends,
Can you believe we are already nearly halfway through the term! This last week has been exceptionally busy, starting with the Year 3 Camp Experience on Thursday evening, 1F Assembly, Interschool Sports, First Eucharist, 3-6 Science Incursion, National Simultaneous Story Time, Year 6 Leadership day and Prayer in Pyjamas with Foundation last night.
Last Thursday, our Year 3 children enjoyed a fabulous Camp Experience. Beginning with a fruit afternoon tea, the children participated in a Scavenger Hunt, prepared and ate their pizza dinner and decorated biscuits with a variety of tempting toppings. They played Minute to Win It-type activities and finished with a Kahootz. There was much laughter and joy experienced by all.
On Sunday, 18th May, our Year 4 (and one Year 5) students celebrated their First Eucharist in the 11am Parish Mass - Eva, Blake, Ricky, Flynn, Mato, Emily, Jacob, Mason, Isla S, Isla M, Gabriel and Ava, Levi and Aaliyah received blessings.
A big thank you to the families and Miss Dirckze, as their teacher, who supported the children in their preparation. Many parishioners commented on the reverence the students showed and how lovely it was to see the children’s smiles as they received the Body of Christ for the first time. One parishioner, who was a special minister at the Mass and could see the children’s faces as they received, stated what an absolute blessing it was to witness this expression of faith.
Our Foundation families joined us last night for Prayer in Pyjamas. Dressed up snug and warm in their PJs, the children and their families reflected on what prayer is, how we pray, why we pray, and where we pray. Together with their families, they created a prayer mat, a candle and a prayer cube to make a prayer space at home. In our final prayer, we included prayer as listening, blessing, formal prayer and prayer as song.
At last week’s assembly, the St Brigid’s Light the Way Awards were presented.
The F-2 award was presented to Ashton for being an active listener during learning time, and always taking on feedback to extend himself within his learning, particularly in reading and writing.
The 3-6 award was presented to Laylah for her ongoing improvement and consistent effort in striving for success.
We take this opportunity to wish Harry, Isla S, Isla S, Daphne F and Christina well as they progress to the next stage of Division Cross Country next week.
Wendy has enjoyed the last week of her holiday exploring the magical city of London - taking in all the sights, Big Ben, London Bridge and even the Crown Jewels! She is now winging her way back to Australia. We wish her a safe flight home and can’t wait to hear about the highlights of her trip!
St Brigid's and St Louis de Montfort staff will be participating in an RE Reflection day on Friday 6 June at St Louis school. TheirCare will be open here at St Brigid's on Friday 6 June. Families are encouraged to book asap.
