Year Three

Melbourne Museum and IMAX Excursion

In Term Two, our Year Three students have been inquiring into the central idea, ‘Natural forces and human activity change the Earth’s physical features’, as part of the transdisciplinary theme How the world works.

To support and enrich this learning, students attended an exciting excursion to the Melbourne Museum and IMAX. This experience allowed students to explore Earth’s physical features and the powerful forces that shape our planet. The immersive IMAX film brought natural disasters and landform changes to life on the big screen, deepening students' understanding of how natural forces such as earthquakes, volcanoes, and erosion impact the Earth’s surface.

At the museum, students investigated real-life examples of landscapes, fossils, and geological displays. They also reflected on how human activity continues to alter our environment over time.

This engaging and educational excursion helped students connect classroom learning to the real world and supported the development of their understanding of our lines of inquiry:

  • Physical features and landforms on Earth

  • The power of natural forces

  • The impact of human societies

A big thank you to our parent helpers and staff who supported the day and made it a memorable learning experience for all!
