Year Four

Spotlight on Learning

Jericho Community

Dear Families,

A big week to end the term on!

Thanks to all who supported Pyjama Day on Monday. It was great to see so many students and teachers wearing their PJ's to help raise money for those who are in need.

Students also got to listen to the Year 6 History projects and learn more about the formation of each Australia State.

We had a great St Thomas the Apostle Feast Day. It was lovely to start with Mass and then spend time reflecting on St Thomas. Today we did a pilgrimage to St Peters. We looked at Catholic markers and discussed St Thomas' life and how this can inspire our own journey of discovery.

Thank you for attending Student, Parent Teacher interview meetings. It was great to connect and discuss your child's progress.

We hope that you all take time to spend with family and friends over the holiday and keep warm in this chilly weather. We look forward to you all being refreshed after the break.

Next Term we are learning about...

Religious Education Focus

We have finished our topic this term of Called to Serve - Great Heroes are worth Following. Jesus is a great Hero and an example for us all! Next term we'll be exploring "Fuel for the Journey'.

English Focus

In Term 3 we will begin a new book called "The Wild Robot" written by Peter Brown. As well as exploring the needs to look after our world.

Mathematics Focus

The term will begin by exploring a unit about angles. Finding angles around us and identifying them.

Integrated Studies

Students will be looking at 'What all Living things need' and how we can ethically look after animals in our society. We also have planned a number of incursions and an excursion for students to learn and have hands on experience around the ethical care of animals.

Social/ Emotional Learning & RRRR

Next term we'll begin 'Gender norms and stereotypes.' Students will be looking at their individuality, gender stereotypes through stories and the rights and responsibilities that we have.

Auslan Focus

Important Reminders

Monday 21st July - 1st Day Term Three

Every morning the students complete a 'Check in'. This is generally done between 8:45 and 8:55am.

Thanks for providing your child with fruit or vegetables for their fruit break. We all get a little peckish mid morning, so it helps with our learning.

Please ensure that your child has a bottle of water each day. They are able to refill it when needed.

As the weather is getting colder, bringing a jacket to school to help us keep warm when we are outside is recommended. Please put names on all clothing items so they can be returned if they become lost.

Please continue to listen to your child read as this helps to build their fluency and accuracy skills.
