Science, Technologies, Sustainability & Stewardship
F-2
Students explored how living things grow, change, and survive in their environments. They investigated plant parts and their functions, created 3D models of plants, and became “forensic scientists” to solve mysteries about animal offspring. The unit finished with a Kahoot recap and creative design tasks showcasing their learning.
3-4
Students have been busy investigating food chains and the vital roles of producers, consumers, and decomposers in ecosystems. They explored sustainable food production, built their own fruit fly traps, and took part in the exciting Reptile Encounters incursion. The term wrapped up with reflections on how humans can support thriving environments.
5-6
In the final weeks, students examined how environmental conditions impact plant growth and explored sustainable farming practices. They collaborated on a creative “MasterChef” project, designing and preparing healthy meals with a focus on nutrition and sustainability. The unit concluded with reflections on biological science and a Kahoot to consolidate their understanding.
Have a rest filled and rejuvenative holiday break! Excited to start Chemical Sciences next term.
Kind Regards,
STSS Team
