Year Five

Spotlight on Learning

Bethany Community

Dear Bethany Families,

At the end of Term 2, we celebrate the learning the students have achieved, and the relationships they have continued to build. In their day to day interactions with each other and the teachers, they have displayed safety, respect and learning with their actions. As a community, the students are developing skills and character traits that will serve them well as school leaders next year.

Next Term we will begin by learning about...

Religious Education Focus:

We have a new Inquiry statement next term "Fuel For the Journey". We will be investigating the scripture from Luke 10 1:24 and linking our findings to the Jubilee Year.

English Focus

The students will begin to read "Tom Appleby Convict Boy", a novel written by Jackie French. They will also complete reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary tasks related to the text.

Mathematics Focus

In term three we will continue to add and subtract improper fractions and mixed numerals with related denominators.

Auslan Focus

In the first week of term 2 students will be learning how to sign:

Close the door
Close the book
Play guitar
How do you sign....
Do you have?
I don't have.

Social/ Emotional Learning Focus:

Next term the students will begin investigating gender stereotypes, and how inclusion and respectful language will help all students feel safe at school.
