Hi Parents,

It’s been another fun-filled week of learning in Year 3! We’ve been busy with a range of engaging activities, and we’re excited to share some of the highlights with you below. You’ll also find a few important reminders and details about upcoming events—there’s lots to look forward to as we head towards the end of term!

A Wild Day Out At Healesville Sanctuary!

What an exciting adventure we had at Healesville Sanctuary! The students had so much fun exploring the beautiful bushland, on the lookout for their special totem animals. We came face-to-face with some of Australia’s most amazing wildlife – curious emus, bouncy kangaroos, sleepy koalas, shy wallabies, spiky echidnas, cuddly-looking wombats and a few fascinating reptiles too! It was a fantastic day filled with wonder, fresh air and lots of smiles as we learned about the unique animals that call Australia home.

This week the teachers have added some photos and work samples of our visit.

Sample One-

Yesterday at Healesville Sanctuary I went with Olivia, Nelson, Parthib, Ryan, Henry and I. Our guide was Olivia's mum (Michelle). The bus trip was SO long and I was super dizzy.

My most favourite part was seeing the wombats because it was my totem animal! Most of all we saw my totem animal and it was the first one we saw. My group and I saw the dingoes last. It was my friend Olivia's totem animal.

When we saw the wombats, we were taking a photo and the wombat tried to get in. After that the wombat was wiggling it's bum!

When we saw Spirits Of The Sky, the bird show, the owl swooped over my group and everyone bobbed to the floor but the owl just went lower.

We had a great time on our excursion to Healesville Sanctuary.

Sample Two-

The bus ride was only 45mins and I recommend a ride to Healesville Sanctuary to people who love animals.

The Koala talk was really exciting and I asked lots of questions and Ethan (the guide) answered all of them! He even said that the mum produces a diarrhoea called pap that the newborn licks from her bottom. The baby gets nutrients to digest all the eucalyptus leaves!

My totem animal was the dingo. It was so cute, there were two of them called Jedda and Waltina.

The Spirits Of The Sky was really cool!! I literally got to almost touch the bird as it flew over. My favourite was the wedge tailed eagle called Magra. She flew right over me and she had a 2.4 metre wingspan!

I had fun at Healesville Sanctuary!

Sample Three-

I think Healesville Sanctuary is a perfect place to go. The animals are entertaining, the flight arena is amazing and all of the water sprayers are fantastic!

My favourite part of the day was when the kangaroos got disturbed because then they all stood up and started to hop. It was so cool!

My favourite animal was the wallaby because they are like mini kangaroos. I was so glad we saw them because if we didn't I would probably be upset for the rest of the day.

Science Week Fun- Coming Soon!

We’re gearing up for an exciting Science Week at the end of Term 2! Students will get hands-on with a variety of fun experiments and STEM challenges that are sure to spark curiosity and creativity.

Some of the exciting experiments on offer include making homemade bouncy balls, launching mini rockets with film canisters, and testing our engineering skills with Da Vinci’s Bridge. We'll also be experimenting with the classic bouncy egg—get ready for some egg-citing results!

It’s going to be a fantastic week of discovery, learning and plenty of fun!

Our First Art Trail!

We’re very excited to announce that our first ever Art Trail is happening in Week 10 of this term! Throughout the week, students’ amazing artworks will be proudly displayed outside classrooms, in corridors, on windows, and around the school for families to enjoy.

Parents will be able to walk the trail and view the artwork from outside the classrooms, without needing to enter. Beautiful flower sculptures will also be featured in the Learning Centre as part of the display.

The Art Trail will be open all week, with families, grandparents and special friends invited to come a little earlier for pick up, one or even two afternoons (around 3:15pm) to take a walk and enjoy the creativity on show. We’re sure it’s going to look fantastic!
