Hoop Time

All Stars Boys Dominate at Hoop Time! By Lucas, 6KN

As soon as we arrived, we settled in to cheer on one of our Future Stars teams. The energy was high, and we were excited to get started. Our first game was a thrilling comeback win, with the boys quickly adjusting to playing with a smaller-sized basketball.

After a quick break for snacks, we spent time supporting our classmates and watching their games. Our second match ended in a tough 2-point loss to Park Ridge Primary School, but our teamwork was noticeably improving with every game.

Next, we faced our rivals, Rangeview. In a close contest, we managed to edge them out with a narrow win—enough to send us into the semi-final, where we faced Rangeview once again. This time, we started strong and maintained the lead throughout, finishing with a confident win and earning our place in the grand final.

The grand final atmosphere was UNREAL! Kids from all the other teams were cheering loudly as we took to the court. We played our best game yet, securing a decisive 29–12 victory over Park Ridge.

A huge thank you to Mrs. Tarenidis for organising the event, and to Mr. Souter and Mr. Webb for coming along to support. We’re also incredibly grateful to the parents for their help on the day, and a special thank you to Mr. Reilly for his fantastic coaching throughout the tournament.

All Stars Girls Shine at Hoop Time!

The All Stars Girls team had an incredible day, showcasing skill, teamwork, and determination on the basketball court. Their impressive efforts saw them make it all the way to the grand final, finishing as runners-up to a very strong and undefeated Rangeview team.

A big thank you to Aimee for her fantastic coaching and to the parents who supported the team by scoring on the day – your help was greatly appreciated!

Vermont Vikings Make It to the Grand Final!  By Eason, 6KN

Our Vermont Hoop Time team – Vermont Vikings—had a fantastic day at the tournament. With great teamwork, energy, and spirit, we won all our games leading up to the grand final.

In the final match, we came up against a very strong Park Ridge Primary School team, filled with tall and skilled players. Despite our determination and effort, their size and strength proved difficult to match, and we went down by 10 points.

Although we didn’t take home the top prize, we’re incredibly proud of how we played. We supported each other, gave it our all, and had an experience we’ll never forget.

Future Stars Boys – Vermont Victory Runners-Up By Ian, 5DW

Today was a fun and energetic day filled with cheering, excitement, and lots of teamwork. Our team worked really well together, especially with our passing. We made it all the way to the grand final, but unfortunately, we just missed out on the win.

Even though we didn’t take first place, it was an amazing experience—and I really hope I get the chance to do it again in Grade 6!

Future Stars Boys – Vermont Vernon Finish 4th By Kingsley, 5CB

Hoop Time was such a fun experience! I really enjoyed visiting the State Basketball Centre and getting the chance to play in some exciting matches. Everyone was either playing, watching games, or just hanging out and enjoying the day.

The bus ride only took about 15 minutes, and the whole way there was filled with chatter and laughter. I had some great laughs throughout the day because it was just so much fun.

I’m already looking forward to Hoop Time in Year 6—and I think future Year 5s and 6s will love it too!

Mixed Rookies – Vermont Tornadoes Go Undefeated! By Alannah and Amity, 6PS

Hoop Time was a fantastic way to connect with students from other schools and build new basketball skills we might not have learned in P.E. We had an amazing time—and going undefeated made it even more exciting!

We really enjoyed the day and hope future year levels get to experience this fun and memorable event too.
