Hello VPS Parents & Friends!

With only 3 weeks left of term,  Winter is definitely setting in. The cooler mornings have been crisp and fresh, and we are fortunate to have been able to enjoy some sunny days. The last few weeks have been busy across the year levels with lots of excursions, incursions and activities happening. Our Year 5 and 6 students enjoyed a fabulous day of Interschool Sport today, and we had a number of students participating in the next level of Cross Country this week, too.

Semester One Reports will be available to view via COMPASS on Thursday 3rd July 2025. Please click on the link below for details about the reports.

A reminder to everyone that Term 2 ends on Friday July 4 at 2:30pm.

Community Response to Survey Questions

Thank you to those of you who took the time to respond to questions around the things you value about our school, and things you would like to see more of in the future. This will assist us with the preparation of our Asset Management Profile that we need to put together as part of the Master Plan funding we have received.

There were around 50 responses, highlighting many things that people valued and would like to see more of. There were also insightful suggestions of ways to engage the community more actively in our school. We will take note of all of your suggestions and use them in our forward planning.

This is the start of a very exciting time for our school!

Works to Vermont Oval Pavilion

The Whitehorse City Council have contacted the school to let us know of upcoming works to the pavilion at the Vermont Oval. The demolition and redevelopment of the pavilion will commence in the next few weeks, and is expected to take up to 12 months to complete. As a result of the works, there will be reduced parking spaces around the oval (around 20 less spaces) and access to the pavilion side of the oval will be limited. Students and families who use the oval as part of their route walking to and from school will need to use the South-East side of the oval, walking around past the cricket nets as access around the pavilion will be blocked off.

Extra Curricular Activities at VPS

We are fortunate to be able to offer several extra-curricular activities at Vermont PS including Chess Club, Art Classes, Kelly Sports, Tennis Coaching, Instrumental Music instruction. One of the additional activities that students can be part of outside of school hours is our Table Tennis lessons with Coach Di Li. This group has been active at our school for about a year with numbers growing consistently. Students have excelled in the sport, with a group competing in the largest club-versus-club table tennis event in Victoria—the annual Croydon Metropolitan Team Championships. The event spanned three days, across two venues, featuring 124 teams and nearly 400 players from across the state. Three teams from VPS competed (with some students who have since left VPS for Secondary School still coming to train) with one of the teams taking home the premiership.

If you would like to have your child be involved with after school table tennis sessions, please contact Di using the information below.

Winter Sports

Today the Year 5 and 6 students participated in their Winter Sports Teams. They had an amazing time and the behaviour and sportsmanship was exceptional. Well done to all the students who participated, it was a lot of fun! Thank you to Clinton Walsh for his time and organisation to enable all of our students to participate. Further details will follow over the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, here are a couple of snapshots:
