Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come to the end of Term 2, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the many wonderful events and achievements of our school community over the past ten weeks. There is much to be grateful for, and together we have achieved a great deal.

The last day of Term 2 for students is Thursday July 3.

Congratulations to our First Holy Communion Candidates

A heartfelt congratulations to all our students who received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. It was a truly beautiful celebration of faith. The children looked radiant and reverent – a true credit to you, their families, for nurturing their spiritual growth.

Both Father Antony and Father Prabhu spoke powerfully during their homilies. One important message was this: Let your child’s First Communion not be their last. Continue to bring your children to Mass and make Jesus part of your everyday life. They also spoke of Blessed Carlo Acutis, a remarkable young man who is soon to become the first millennial saint. Carlo, who died at the age of 15 from leukemia, had a deep devotion to the Eucharist. Remarkably, it was Carlo who brought his parents to Mass – not the other way around. He reminds us all of the importance of making time for Jesus. He will soon be canonised as the patron saint of the Holy Eucharist, and he offers a powerful example for our children to follow.

Year 5 Camp – Phillip Island

Our Year 5 students had a fantastic time on their recent camp to Phillip Island, which proved to be a highlight of the term. The experience was both fun and educational, with students learning about environmental stewardship through visits to the beach, wildlife parks, and, of course, the iconic penguin parade. It was a camp full of lasting memories and hands-on learning about caring for our Earth. We received overwhelmingly positive feedback from students and parents alike and are pleased to confirm that we will rebook this camp for Year 5 in 2026 and beyond. A sincere thank you to the dedicated staff who organised and attended the camp – your time, effort, and care are very much appreciated.

End of Semester Reports

Semester One Reports will be released to families via PAM on Tuesday 1st July. These reports provide a comprehensive overview of your child’s learning and progress. Please note that there has been a change to the way Mathematics is reported. In line with the newly revised Victorian Curriculum Version 2.0, the Mathematics section will now be presented under a single outcome, with the strands of Number & Algebra, Measurement & Geometry, and Statistics & Probability combined. We trust this streamlined format will provide a clearer snapshot of your child’s development in this learning area.

We will be holding Parent-Teacher Interviews in Term 3, Week 2 – Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th July. These interviews are an important opportunity to discuss your child’s progress in more depth. Booking information will be shared with families at the beginning of Term 3. The interviews on Tuesday 29th July will begin at 2:15pm. We ask that parents collect students at 1pm to assist us in facilitating the interviews.

Exciting Building Update

We are thrilled to share that our building works are finally complete, and we will begin the process of moving in from Monday 30th June. The changes to class locations are as follows:

  • Year 6 will move into the top floor of the new Todd Building

  • Year 5 will move into the lower level of the Todd Building

  • Year 4 will move upstairs into the Donnelly Building, alongside the Year 3s

  • Year 2 will move into the lower level of the Donnelly Building

  • Foundation, Year 1 and Year 3 will remain in their current classrooms

Beautiful new concrete pathways now link all learning areas, improving access and safety. Please note that the freshly laid turf will remain fenced off until it is properly established.

A formal opening of the new building will be organised and advertised in due course. Thank you sincerely for your patience, flexibility and support during the building program – we are so excited to begin this new chapter.

End of Term and Staff Pilgrimage

As a reminder, Friday 4th July is a student-free day. All staff will be undertaking a pilgrimage to Melbourne to walk in the footsteps of Saint Mary MacKillop, deepening our connection with her devotion to Catholic education and her mission of service.

Looking Ahead to Term 3

Term 3 will commence on Monday 21st July. We begin the term with our swimming program for Foundation and Year 1 students, which is always a wonderful learning opportunity.

Thank you once again for your ongoing support of our school. May the upcoming holiday break bring rest, renewal and quality family time. Please stay safe and we look forward to welcoming you back in Term 3.

Yours in partnership
