Year 12 News
We have been back at school for five weeks now and the time is going very fast! We started the term with our RMIT day and Year 12 camp down at beautiful Camp Manyung in Mount Eliza. Both experiences allowed our Year 12 students to get to know their peers as well as their teachers. The highlight of camp was the REACH foundation presentation, where students let their guards down and had some open and honest conversations about the importance of supporting each other through their final year of schooling. Some other highlights included the dance off on Thursday night and all the fun activities the camp had on offer including the giant swing, beach activities and the high ropes course.
Then it was back to teaching and learning, coursework, and SAC completion. We are very proud of the Year 12 cohort and how they have started the 2024 year. Keep up the hard work!
Upcoming Events
The Year 12 VCE VM and VPC students have the Careers and Employment Expo at the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds on Thursday 14th March. Please make sure consent for this event has been provided by 7th March. Please see Compass for more details.

Year 11 VCE Expectations
It has been a great start for Year 11 VCE students. Students have been embracing the challenge of VCE working well with others, preparing themselves well for assessments, getting feedback from their teachers and behaving well.
There are some added responsibilities in Year 11 VCE that parents need to be aware of. It is expected that students undertaking Year 11 studies complete 1 hr of homework for EACH subject each night. This may mean that students can be doing up to 4-5 hours of homework a night.
Expected that all students have their required equipment (laptops, textbooks, edrolo, calculators etc). We know this can be an expensive time so please if you are having any financial difficulties please contact Mr Struth.
Students should also limit part-time jobs to 10 hours a week.
Attendance requirements are 95%
If your child is absent, please contact Devon (the senior school attendance officer) and provide a reason for their absence.

Year 11 VCE February Update
The year 11 VCE cohort has started the year running, doing an excellent job adjusting to the changes and demands of VCE. To start the year, students were able to complete their verification tests to assess their readiness for VCE. Our top verification test performer across all classes, Prisa Prajapati, was recognised and celebrated as our first Year 11 Superstar for 2024!
Elevate Education
Our next step as a cohort was undertaking some student professional development on study skills which was run as an incursion at the school by elevate education. Each student received and work through their “Study Sensei” booklet and discussed strategies to help with their study habits this year. Parent seminars have had great response and will continue to run throughout the school year. We will be working with Elevate education to support students study habits throughout the year leading into their year 12 programme.
Our senior sport teams represented the school on the 22nd of February, with both Volleyball and tennis teams participating in division competitions. In trying conditions on a 30+ degree day, the students’ efforts were exceptional.
At the end of February we were able to celebrate all the amazing work the year 11 VCE students have completed with our Mid-term celebration assembly. This included over 90 students with 100% attendance and over 20 students with the top possible GPA from their progress reports. An amazing effort so far and we look forward to celebrating more of the year 11 VCE students’ achievements in our end of term 1 celebration assembly!

Year 11 VCE-VM Expectations
It has been a very positive start for Year 11 VCE-VM students. Students have welcomed the step up to Year 11 and have adapted well to the many changes the VCE-VM structure offers; namely Structured Workplace Learning and VET courses.
Students have had an opportunity to search for Structured Workplace Learning placement and an industry of their choice. This provides VCE-VM students with the much needed experience that potential employers look for in a young person. VET studies also provide students with knowledge and skills that they can immediately apply in the workplace.
On school grounds, it is still expected that all students have their required equipment (charged laptops, textbooks, stationery etc) and are in full school uniform. Arriving on time to school and arriving on time to class are still expectations that our college highly values and students are supported and reminded of these organisational requirements.
Attendance requirements for the VCE-VM program are a high 95%.
If your child is absent, please contact Devon (the senior school attendance officer) and provide a reason for their absence.
