Prep
Students have enjoyed their first couple of art lessons, learning about how the Art room works and getting straight into painting and self portraits!
Grade 1/2, 3/4
Lots of sparkly fireworks have been made in the art room this past week. Check out the office foyer display for some of the beautiful results from these Grade 1- 4 students!
Grade 5
Here are the beginnings of some of the Grade 5 collaged self portrait project titled 'Super Hero Self'. Colour and pattern will be added next before tearing their artwork into sections to place on top of their photo.
Grade 6
I've loved getting to know these students a little more with this sculpture project all about them! Each letter of their name represented with unique passions, interests, hobbies and elements of what makes these kids tick! What a fun way to start the year!
Performing Arts
It has been an absolute joy to watch students jump into Performing Arts at the beginning of this term. We have been focusing on building our class community with different tasks that allow students to work together in a variety of ways. The new Performing Arts room has been abuzz with drama, music and movement!
Highlights have included:
- Welcoming our Prep students to the Performing Arts room, with lots of songs and movement.
- Grade 1/2 students learning head, shoulders, knees and toes in Woiwurrung language.
- Grade 3/4 students creating scenes and stories using their physicality and learning some catchy group chants.
- Seeing the Grade 5/6 students transform into a cohesive drama ensemble in their class by working on focus, trust and collaborative tasks. 'Spaghetti' has also been a hit drama game amongst the 5/6 community!
State School Spectacular
Our school is participating in the Victorian State School Spectacular this year. Expressions of interest were sought from senior school students and we have filled our school's allocated spots. 22 students in Grade Five and Six will be performing in the mass choir. We can't wait for rehearsals to begin, with the performances at John Cain Arena in Term Three.
Performing Arts Captains
Our Grade 6 Performing Arts Captains are busy organising a Performing Arts Club! They are trialing this with just Grade 5/6 students in Term One. See Maple, Rheya, Ariella or Harper if you are interested in taking part!
Physical Education & Sport
PE has kicked off with a bang as we've jumped straight back into being active and having a blast in our lessons! Congratulations to Sean Holland, as he is away caring for his new baby boy! In the meantime, Ben White is taking care of PE lessons.
Prep - Grade 2
We've been consolidating our Fundamental Motor Skills and the Prep - Grade 2 students have been loving using their 'Tee-Strong-Throw' technique to throw both accurately and powerfully! It has been awesome to see how much the students are having when they get outside!
Grade 3 - 6
The Grade 3 - 6 students have been jumping into their Cricket skills, fine tuning their batting, bowling and fielding which has been a joy to watch. They've continued to play games that get them to all work together in teams while having a blast in their lessons!
Grade 5 - 6 Interschool Sport
It has been a slower start to Interschool Sport this term with some altered scheduling. However the Grade 5 - 6 students will hit the ground running after getting plenty of practice in their sports with their teams. Keep an eye out for Parent Helper Rosters, Fixtures and updates coming soon!
