Wellbeing Support Officer

Mel

Hello lovely Kalinda community!

I’m Mel, the Wellbeing Support Officer here at Kalinda. As we start another year together I thought it would be a nice time to re-introduce myself and the support I can provide.

3 things you might like to know about me…

  • My favourite things to do are drawing, running and exploring nature.
  • I just started playing footy and I love it!
  • If I could spend a day as an animal I’d choose to be a seal, because they are playful but also spend some time lazing in the sun!

My job at Kalinda is to work with students and families who might need a little extra support. Everyone needs some help from time to time, and I can provide a safe space to talk about what’s going on. For some students and families all that’s required is an opportunity to talk things through, which I’m more than happy to provide. For others, more intensive or ongoing support is required, which may not always be appropriate to provide in a school context. The good news is that if I’m not the right person for your situation, I can help find someone who is!

If you are concerned about your child’s wellbeing please always start by speaking to your classroom teacher. You can also contact Lauren Hopkins, who will discuss the suitability of my support for your situation, and put you in contact with me where appropriate. I work on Tuesdays & alternating Fridays, and spend the other days of the week playing monster trucks and having water fights with my 4-year-old!

My office is located in the Admin building right next to the staff photo wall – please feel free to say hi if you’re coming past!
