Paddock to Plate

Garden Show as part of their learning across Paddock to Plate, Project Ready, and Literacy. The excursion provided a rich, hands-on experience that brought their classroom learning to life in a vibrant and inspiring setting.
Throughout the day, students engaged in a range of interactive activities. They worked alongside Bunnings staff to pot up their own seedlings, explored sustainable gardening practices by creating seed balls, and discovered simple yet effective propagation techniques by growing rosemary using honey. These practical experiences encouraged curiosity, independence, and a deeper understanding of how food and plants are grown.
Students also spent time exploring the diverse range of stalls, gaining insight into innovative gardening ideas, tools, and sustainable practices. This exposure has sparked many new ideas that will directly inform and enhance our school’s gardening program.
The excursion has provided valuable inspiration for how we can continue to develop our kitchen garden, helping students make meaningful connections between growing, harvesting, and preparing food. It was a wonderful day of learning, exploration, and hands-on discovery, with students representing the school with enthusiasm and curiosity.
