Message from our
Campus Principal

As we approach the final week of Term 1, I would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge the many achievements and positive contributions across our University Campus. It has been a strong and productive start to the year, with students demonstrating commitment to their learning and actively engaging in a wide range of opportunities.
Parent Teacher Interviews are scheduled for next week and provide a valuable opportunity for families to connect with teachers and discuss student progress. These will be held on Wednesday 1st April from 3:30pm – 7:00pm and Thursday 2nd April from 10:00am – 1:00pm. Please note that on Thursday there will be no scheduled classes and students are not required to attend, with the exception of those involved in the VCE English Incursion.
We encourage all parents/carers to attend and meet with relevant teachers to build the communication and relationship between school and home as this can be a significant factor in students feeling supported and assisting them to progress. It is also an important opportunity for students to discuss their progress, identify areas for improvement and clarify any queries.
Looking ahead to Term 2, classes will commence on Tuesday 21st April, following a Staff Professional Learning Day on the Monday. On the Tuesday, our Year 11 VCE VM students will attend the Holocaust Museum excursion. Students will be required to meet at Morwell Train Station at 6:30am, and we look forward to the valuable learning this experience will provide. Further details are on Compass.

I am pleased to formally recognise our student leadership team for 2026. Our College Captains, Arabella Altavas and George Stevens, were inducted into their roles during Kurnai College’s Awards Ceremony in December 2025. Earlier this term, we also proudly inducted our College Vice Captains, Pearl Doherty and Jack Thomas, after being elected from a strong field of potential candidates. More recently, the college captains and student representative leaders were presented with their official badges by Martin Cameron MP, Member for Morwell—an important milestone that reflects their leadership and commitment to our college community. Our Student Representative Council (SRC) have been actively meeting and have been involved in a number of events already this year including this week’s free BBQ and Easter egg hunt, and they are busy planning more events for the campus in term 2.
Our VCE students have shown strong commitment and resilience throughout a busy and demanding Term 1, demonstrating positive attendance habits and a growing focus on their learning. As we head into the holiday break, it will be important that students take the opportunity to rest and recharge, while also maintaining some light revision and organisation to stay on track. Making effective use of Study Hall time, maintaining consistent attendance, and taking advantage of opportunities such as upcoming revision lectures will be key to ongoing success. We commend our students for their efforts so far and encourage them to return in Term 2 refreshed, focused, and ready to continue their VCE journey.
Our VCE VM students have had a productive and engaging end to Term 1, demonstrating strong commitment to their learning, with attendance remaining a key focus for success. It has been fantastic to see students involved in a range of experiences, including the Interview 2 Impress program, Yarnin’ Circle, and hands-on Numeracy and workshop activities, all of which support the development of real-world skills. Students are preparing for Term 2 by finalising their work placements and maintaining focus as several important excursions approach.
Our VPC students have been actively engaged in their learning across numeracy, literacy, personal development, and work-related skills, demonstrating a strong commitment to applied learning through their module and outcome tasks. It has been fantastic to see students bring these skills to life through experiences such as the Coffee Cart at the Moe Library, where they provided excellent service to the community. Students have also been working collaboratively on community projects at Hazelwood Estate, designing, and constructing seating areas while developing practical and teamwork skills. Earlier this week the students further strengthened their connection to the community through participation in a Yarning Circle for National Close the Gap Day. Next week, the VPC students will have an excursion to Inverloch, where they will apply their skills in a real-world context.
On behalf of the campus leadership team, I would like to thank our staff, students, and families for their efforts throughout Term 1 and wish everyone a safe and restful holiday break. We look forward to a positive and successful Term 2.
