Leader of Year 11 Wellbeing

Ms Rebecca Hines

As we reach the end of a full and productive term, I want to begin by expressing my sincere thanks to Ms Lea‑Kathryn Nelson for stepping in during Weeks 5 and 6 while I was on long service leave. Her support and care for the students ensured continuity and stability, and we are very grateful.

Pastoral Focus: Peak, Pit and Push

This term in Pastoral, Year 11 were introduced to a simple but powerful reflective practice: Peak, Pit and Push.

  • Peak – a highlight or positive moment
  • Pit – a challenge or low point
  • Push – something to work on moving forward

This ties beautifully into our Wellbeing Wednesday focus and our GEM principles of Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness. Encouraging students to pause and reflect helps build emotional awareness and resilience. Families may like to bring this practice into their own routines. Perhaps as a weekly moment of connection around the dinner table.

Senior Boys Touch Football Success

I had the privilege of watching our Senior Boys Touch Football team compete in the semi‑finals on Thursday of Week 9. The boys played exceptionally well, winning their semi‑final 11–3 against Kogarah Marist, followed by a strong performance in the final, winning 11–7 against De La Salle Revesby. In the final moments of the game, Will Sutherland unfortunately injured his shoulder while scoring what was undoubtedly the try of the day.

We wish Will a speedy recovery. Throughout both games, the boys played with respect, stayed calm under pressure, and represented the College with pride. We wish them the very best of luck as they move on to the next stage of the competition.

Year 11 Exam Block

At the end of Week 9, Year 11 began their exam block. I want to congratulate the cohort on the mature and composed way they have approached this period. Back‑to‑back exams can feel overwhelming, yet students have shown organisation, calmness and genuine effort. They should be proud of themselves.

A Few Reminders

As we move into next term, please keep the following expectations in mind:

  • Mobile phones are not to be used at all, even at the canteen. If a student must use their phone because there is no other option, it will need to be handed in to the office afterwards.
  • We have a strict no‑chewing‑gum rule. Students who continue to chew gum will receive concerns on Compass or detentions.

Looking Ahead to Term 2

Wishing all Year 11 students and their families a happy and holy Easter and a well‑deserved break. When we return next term, students are expected to be in full winter uniform:

  • Blazers worn to and from school
  • Long‑sleeve shirts for all students
  • Boys: long pants, belt and tie
  • Girls: stockings

Thank you for your ongoing support. I look forward to a positive and purposeful Term 2 with Year 11.
