Principal Reflections

Dear Parents and Carers,
Choose Kindness
At St Edward’s, how we choose to speak is really important.
Across our school, we are often complimented by visitors on how kind, respectful, and well-mannered our students are. Very recently, a member of our community made contact with the school to share how impressed she was with the manner and respect shown during a conversation she had with our students. This is something we are always proud to hear.
There are times when some students make the choice to speak in ways that are disrespectful to others, and this is something we are continuing to improve by following our 'Rules for Living':
I am safe.
I am valued, respected, and cared for.
I am a learner.
We support our students in understanding that when we choose respectful language, it helps everyone feel safe, respected, and ready to learn. The words we use have the power to build others up and create a strong, positive school community.
Thank you for your ongoing support and for working with us to ensure our students are the best version of themselves in all interactions.
St Patrick’s Day and St Joseph’s Day
This week, our church celebrates two important days in the Church’s calendar: St Patrick’s Day and St Joseph’s Day.
St Patrick’s Day, celebrated on March 17, honours Saint Patrick, who shared the message of Jesus with the people of Ireland. To celebrate the day, students were encouraged to wear green clothing and also show support for Project Compassion.
St Joseph’s Day is celebrated today, and we remember Saint Joseph as a faithful and caring protector of the Holy Family.
Until next week,
Keep smiling,
Alison Hatton
