March 23rd, 2026   Audrey

Gallery Image

Every great school needs a superhero... and at KPS we are lucky enough to have the following Audrey embodying Care & Pride.

With the power of CARE, Audrey is always ready to help others succeed. Whether she is supporting a classmate, lending a hand to a teacher, or even stepping in to help tidy someone else's tub, Audrey knows kindness and responsibility at every turn.

She takes enormous PRIDE in her work - and quite possibly holds the title for the tidiest tub ever seen at KPS! Audrey's organisation skills are truly superhero superhuman.

Academically, Audrey is a spelling superstar, dazzling us all with her impressive skills and dedication. But don't be fooled by her initially quiet and reserved nature... beneath it lies a brilliant sense of humour and a smile that lights up the room.

Since joining Kyneton Primary, Audrey has shown remarkable effort and growth. This student from Studio 7, recently even took the time to handwrite 100 awesome dad/ teacher jokes, bringing laughter and joy to everyone around her: a true gift!

Her kindness, effort, humour, and quiet strength make her a real-life superhero in our school community.

Congratulations, Audrey - we are so proud of you!

This week’s Super Hero Award recognises Alia who consistently demonstrates our school values of Excellence and Respect. She comes into the classroom each day with a warm smile and a positive attitude towards her learning and her classmates. Although Alia can sometimes be shy and reserved, she shows great kindness and care for others. She is a thoughtful friend and a considerate classmate, always humble about her own achievements and quick to celebrate the successes of those around her.

Alia is a diligent and hardworking student who approaches every task with effort and enthusiasm. She is naturally curious and enjoys asking thoughtful questions to deepen her understanding. Last week, Alia proudly celebrated Harmony Day, looking wonderful and feeling confident in her traditional Indian dress.

As a Year 1 student, Alia sets an excellent example through her respectful and kind behaviour. She shows patience, empathy, strong listening skills, and beautiful manners in everything she does. She leads by example and maintains a very high standard in her independent learning.

With Alia's determination, dedication, and outstanding character, we are confident she will continue to achieve great things and follow her dream of becoming a teacher.

Congratulations to this week’s Super Hero from Studio 3 – Alia

Gardening & Sustainability Group - Award Winning Produce

Congratulations to the KPS Gardening and Sustainability (G&S) student group for receiving a Highly Commended award for the box of produce they entered in the recent Kyneton Horticultural Society Flower Show.

The produce was lovingly grown and cared for by the G&S representatives from Semester 2, 2025 and Semester 1, 2026, under the guidance of Mary White, our dedicated community volunteer.

A huge thank you to Mary, and to Caryn Wright, for facilitating the entry of the produce in the show and also to Emily and Angus Cocking for decorating the box. We are so proud to have been recognised for the incredible produce grown right here at KPS!

Student Council News

Harmony Week – Everyone Belongs

On Thursday 19 March, our Student Council invited all students to wear orange or something that celebrates their cultural background. It was wonderful to see our community come together and celebrate our diversity.

Our School Captains joined the initiative, creating multilingual welcome signs, colourful displays, and leading a whole-school activity where students traced their hands and shared how they help others feel included.

The hands, on display in the GP room, are a powerful reminder that when we show our school values— respect, care, responsibility, pride, persistence and excellence —everyone belongs. We invite families to come and take a look.

Years 5/6 News

Our Class Novel Study: War Horse

Students in Years 5 and 6 have been deeply engaged in their study of War Horse this term. Through reading and group discussions, they have explored the novel’s key themes, including courage, loyalty, and the impact of war on both people and animals. As part of their learning, students have been developing their analytical skills by examining character perspectives, identifying important events, and supporting their ideas with evidence from the text. They have also been encouraged to reflect on the historical context of the story, helping them to better understand the experiences portrayed in the novel. It has been wonderful to see students actively participating in thoughtful conversations and demonstrating a growing confidence in expressing their interpretations.

Sports News

On Thursday 26th March, 64 students from Years 5 and 6 travelled to Romsey to compete in the Summer Round of CDSSA Interschool Sports. Boys’ and girls’ teams participated in t-ball, volleyball, and cricket. All teams demonstrated excellent effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship, and showed great improvement across the day. It was fantastic to see students supporting one another and representing our school with pride. Congratulations to our undefeated girls’ cricket team, who were crowned district champions and will now progress to the division level later in the year. A big thank you to the parent helpers who supported our teams on the day—your assistance is greatly appreciated.

On Thursday 26th March, the boys T-Ball team went to Romsey to play 5 games. We won 2 games, beat Our Lady of the Rosary and Romsey but lost 3 to Tylden, Woodend and Hesket.

There were 8 teams in total, including Tylden, Woodend, Hesket, OLR, Romsey, St Marys, St Ambrose and Kyneton Primary. We finished 5th and wore our uniforms proudly. It was pretty fast paced, as we had 3 five -minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch time break. It was a good day for the boys and the girls T-Ball teams.

Please inform the office if there are any changes to your child’s medical needs so the appropriate paperwork can be completed and procedures put in place to care for your child

Uniform Ordering

Uniform can be purchased in-store from Lowes in Lansell Square in Kangaroo Flat. Orders can also be placed online at www.lowes.com.au. Please see the pricelist below

Students Arriving Late

Students arriving late to school should come to the office, accompanied by an adult, and sign in either on the Compass Kiosk or in the late book.  They will then be issued a late pass to take to class and their arrival at school will be updated on the roll.  This will avoid parents/guardians receiving notification that their child is not at school when they have arrived late.

Early Collection of Students from School

We understand that there are many reasons why you might need to collect students from school early, however, we ask that you please keep these to a minimum where possible.

Our school PA system works by buildings so when an announcement is made it will be heard throughout the whole building and the closest relocatable classroom. These announcements are very disruptive especially when some days announcements are being made on numerous occasions within short periods. These disruptions have an impact on student learning.

We ask for your assistance with some strategies to assist with this matter:

  • Email the teacher and the office early in the day with the time you will be collecting your child/ren so we can, hopefully, have them waiting at the office for you.
  • When possible, collect your child just before recess (11 – 11:40am) or lunchtime (1:40 – 2:20pm) rather than during the middle of class times.
  • Announcements for collecting children will not be made during class time. If you need to collect your child during class time please come to the office to sign your child/ren out as an early departure and then go to the classroom to collect them.

We understand there can be emergency situations, however, we hope you will give your support and enable all children to receive as much learning as possible.

School Gates and Opening Times

Our school gates open at 8:45am each day with classes commencing at 9am. School grounds can be accessed via the Edgecombe St pedestrian gate, the kindergarten ramp and the back gate at the bottom of our basketball courts. Please DO NOT use the staff car park or stairs to access the school.

Accessing Compass

Compass is our main way of communicating with our families. It is important that parents access the Parental Portal in Compass at https://kynetonps.vic.jdlf.com.au

Using our parent portal will enable you to –

  • View up-to-date class and school attendance information
  • Approve or enter upcoming or past absences for your son/daughter
  • Update your registered email and mobile number (used for SMS alters)
  • Access information regarding upcoming events and news
  • Access your child’s Semester Reports
  • Book your Parent/Student/Teacher conferences

We encourage families to download the Compass App and to enable notification to ensure you receive all communications.

Please click on the “Welcome to Compass” booklets for further assistance or contact the office.

Carpark Safety

We would like to address some important safety concerns regarding carpark use, and we kindly ask for your cooperation.

Kindergarten Carpark

Please do not park in the kindergarten carpark. This carpark is reserved exclusively for kindergarten families. If you have both kindergarten and school-aged children and need to park there, please ensure you use the ramp to access the school grounds.

Please also note that the large gate at the end of the kindergarten car park and the school is locked and should not be used to access the school — children should not be lifted over the gate under any circumstances.

School Carpark

The school carpark has vehicles moving in and out throughout the day. For safety reasons, we ask that pedestrians do not use the stairs near the flag poles and then walk through the carpark as a shortcut. The designated ramp or steps are to be used when entering or exiting the school.

Thank you for your support in helping keep all members of our school and kindergarten community safe.
