Grade 3 News

Welcome to Week 8.

This week we start our new novel 'Off we go around Australia'. Students will explore the rich diversity of our country—from vibrant cities and coastal regions to rural communities and the outback.

Throughout the term, students will learn about Australia’s landscapes, wildlife, landmarks, and communities, while also deepening their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories. Learning experiences will encourage curiosity, creativity, and connection, helping students appreciate what makes Australia such a unique place to live.

We look forward to sharing this adventure with you all, so students will engage in meaningful learning, with a home project where students will have the opportunity to share with the class all the places they have been around Australia!

Have you been to Northern Territory?

Have you been to Sydney?

A picnic in Bright, Beechworth or Albury Wodonga?

The beach?

Please keep an eye out for our home project Off We Go Around Australia!

We are beginning our multiplication and division unit. Students will build their understanding through hands‑on activities, visual models, and problem‑solving tasks that help make number concepts meaningful and connected to everyday life.

How families can help at home:

  • Practise times tables in fun ways, such as skip counting, songs, or quick oral games.
  • Use real‑life examples, like sharing food, grouping toys, or working out totals when shopping.

During religion, we are making our Lenten Trees.

Students are beginning to understand the three pillars of Lent.

  • Almsgiving
  • Prayer
  • Fasting
