Gymnastics Grant for Prep – 2!
We are thrilled to announce that our school has received a Sporting Schools Grant of $3,350. This grant will be used to fund the cost of an external gymnastics coach to work with our Prep – Grade 2 students.
Starting from Week 6 – Week 9, the coach will conduct weekly sessions with each junior class in the hall. This will be an amazing opportunity for our younger students to be exposed to gymnastics and to develop their coordination, balance, flexibility, strength, and spatial awareness in a safe, supportive environment.
We look forward to seeing our little gymnasts in action soon!
Mini Olympians (Prep – Grade 2)
Our junior students have been focusing on Athletics this term. They have developed their physical ability and movement skills through a variety of different Athletics activities including vortex, javelin, hurdles, long jump, sack race, relay race, egg & spoon race, sprints, and longer distance running.
Our Mini Olympians will be demonstrating their skills and talents at our Mini Olympics, which will be held on Friday, August 9th (Week 4). They will be participating in a variety of different events and will conclude the day with running races and a ribbon ceremony.
*Spectators will not be permitted to attend this event due to lack of space. Parents who have offered their support as parent helpers will be contacted by Ms. Molloy if needed. Thank you for your understanding.
Senior Stars (Grade 3 – 6)
Our grade 2-6 students have jumped into Term 3 working with a focus on Athletics preparation. Our amazing students have been demonstrating huge progress across a variety of different Athletics events including long jump, discus, shot put, 80m hurdles, sprints, 800m running, javelin & vortex and relay running.
Our senior students are eager to get to Sandringham Athletics Track on Wednesday, August 14th (Week 5) to show off the skills they have developed and mastered since the beginning of term and compete in our annual CPS House Athletics Carnival.
Our Grade 3/4 students have also been working on their soccer skills this term. We can see some future Matildas / Socceroos in the making! They are excited to be representing CPS at Fawkner Park at the Soccer Gala Day on August 16th (Week 5).
Green & Gold Day
With the weather on our side, there was a great buzz around CPS on Green & Gold Day. With a sea of colour representing many different countries participating in the Olympics this year, our staff and students came together to celebrate international spirit.
The highlight of the day was the Staff Vs. Grade 6 Dodgeball game at lunchtime. The Grade 6 team showed impressive agility and teamwork, while the staff brought some surprising athletic moves and a lot of humour! The crowd’s laughter and cheers made it a memorable event for all involved.
