School Musical

Why is a Musical important to SMDP?

Date: Wednesday and Thursday night

September 11th and 12th

The students have been scuffing up the hall with their dance routines and belting out songs that sound so sweet and clear.

We took a sneak peak at 3/4S and 3/4O’s items ‘in progress,’ and we were astounded and delighted. They were so fantastic!

Imagine how awesome they will be in 8 weeks time when you finally get to see the fruits of our hard work and practice!

Working on and performing a musical can be an invaluable experience for -

  • Wellbeing - Being in a musical is a life-changing experience and has a significant impact on positive wellbeing.  It enhances students’ holistic development in a caring, safe environment where morale, self-esteem, confidence and character are strengthened.
  • A new chance to shine - The musical exposes talent and gives students a platform on which to shine and develop.
  • New Friends - It brings together students from across different year levels, therefore younger students can work with older ones, learning from them and being inspired by them.
  • Collaboration - The cast and team involved in a school musical unite to become a collective, a community with one aspiring goal … and a big deadline! This team is far reaching, including students, staff, parents and the wider community.

The Final Bow

The most significant benefit of being involved in their school musical for our students at  St Martin De Porres, is that it creates a sense of belonging!

You gotta be in it to win it!
