Respectful Relationships and Berry Street Program

Promoting Respectful Relationships Through Sports at Sacred Heart

At Sacred Heart, our commitment to building a culture of equal opportunity and respect shines through in every part of school life, especially on the sporting fields. The Respectful Relationships program is a big part of this, helping shape the values and behaviours we see in our students every day.

Respectful Relationships is more than just something we teach in class; it’s a way of thinking that we bring into everything we do. It’s about respect, equality, and positive interactions among all of us. By embracing these principles, we’re helping our students grow into socially responsible and empathetic individuals.

This year, our senior students have shown amazing determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship in soccer, netball  and football. They’ve set a fantastic example for everyone.

One of our proudest moments is having the highest number of female members ever in our football team. Plus, we’re thrilled to celebrate our first-ever girls' football team, which represented Sacred Heart with pride and excellence.

These milestones are about more than just participation—they reflect our mission to create an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and empowered. Encouraging girls to join in traditionally male-dominated sports helps challenge stereotypes and promote a culture of respect and equality, aligning perfectly with the Respectful Relationships program.

Our students are winners before they ever hit the field. The values they learn through Respectful Relationships—respect, empathy, and cooperation—prepare them for success in all areas of life. Whether on the soccer pitch or in the classroom, our students demonstrate the qualities that will help them thrive in the future.

We’re incredibly proud of our students' achievements and the way they embody the principles of Respectful Relationships. Their dedication and hard work in sports reflect the supportive and inclusive environment we aim to create at Sacred Heart. As we continue promoting these values, we look forward to seeing even more students flourish and succeed, both in sports and beyond.

A significant part of this success is due to the incredible support and involvement of our parents. By promoting these values at home and encouraging their children to participate fully and fairly, parents help reinforce the culture of respect and equality we strive to build at Sacred Heart. Their role in this journey cannot be overstated, as they lay the foundation for the values our students carry with them onto the field and beyond.

Our amazing  Sacred Heart students particpating in sporting events  are more than just games; they’re a platform for promoting respect, equality, and personal growth. Through initiatives like our girls' football team and the increasing participation of female students in sports, we’re building a school culture that champions equal opportunity and respect for all. Our students are truly winners, not just in sports, but in life.
