Dear Parents and Families,
It gives me great pleasure to work at a school like Sacred Heart. It has been an exciting few weeks back at school, from Lightning premierships to 100 days of prep, we certainly have a lot to celebrate. We completed parent teacher interviews in week 2 of term and we thank you for taking this opportunity to meet with your child's classroom teacher to celebrate their learning. The connection between home and school is so much richer when we keep the lines of comuncation open and are all on the same page.
100 DAYS OF PREP
What a delightful morning it was celebrating the 100 days of prep on Wednesday with our youngest students in a lovely assembly. The amount of parents who came along was certainly testament to the amazing milestone our youngest learners have achieved. A huge thanks to the dynamic prep duo Miss Maloney & Miss Wood for preparing such special day for the preps. The video was absolutely adorable and brought a tear to my eye. Mr Collis is right, if you blink it really does go so fast, so treasure every moment of your child's primary school years. Thanks to the parents for going to such an effort with the amazing costumes and for your ongoing support throughout the year, you too have achieved the milestone of 100 days of parenting a prep child! Congratulations!
PREP & YR 7 TRANSITION 2025
Over the past few weeks I've spent a lot of my time planning and preparing for new students to come to Sacred Heart in prep 2025 and the other end of the bookends our departing yr 6 students who will be in Yr 7 before we know it. Although it feels early, it's important to start these conversations to ensure our youngest students and our oldest students are set up for success in their prospecive schools next year. It is an excting time of change and we wish incoming and outgoing students all the very best on their learning journey.
POTATO OLYMPICS
The year 3 classes have taken the Olympic games to the next level by participating in the inaugural Sacred Heart Potato Olympics. They each designed their own potato, named it and took on the role of head coach of their potato athletes. They participated in an opening ceremony and I had the priviledge of seeing their first event, the potato roll. There were disqualifications, medal winners and some serious repairs needed by the physio. Please pop in and see the year 3 potatoes in the Olympic village upstairs in the year 3 classroom.
LITTLE HEARTS PLAYGROUP
We had our second Little Hearts playgroup in our new setting, the foyer of the church. A huge thankyou to Father Martin for allowing us to use the space. We had almost 20 pre schoolers attend last Friday and we loved having Carol back to share some songs and dances with all of us. A big thanks to the year 5 students who came along to play with our playgroup friends. We enjoyed some outside play in the playground in the sunshine and it was lovely to see so many future 2025 preps come along making friends already!
All Preschoolers and carers are welcome.
BOGAN BINGO
What a fun night of Bogan Bingo organised by the P & F. A huge thanks to Luisa and Tarn and their team on Saturday night. What a treat it was to turn up to school in a flannelette shirt and ugg boots, perfect for a cold Winter's night! Clearly most people had got the memo about the red and black shirts. I don't think I've laughed so hard in such a long time and we certainly saw the parents in a different light. A huge range of prizes were organised by the P& F and year 6 parents. Please see the amazing prize winners below. Those air guitarists and dancers were absolutely incredible and were very brave perfomers on the night!
The question is how can we top this next year?
FAREWELL MISS RAFFERTY
There wasn't a dry eye in assembly this morning as we farwelled Miss Rafferty before she goes off on maternity leave. We wish Sarah all the very best for the coming weeks and a happy and safe arrival of her new born. We know Sarah and Garry wil be wonderful parents and we wait with anticipation of the new arrival. Sarah will certainly be missed at Sacred Heart but we look forward to keeping in touch.
Although its cold outside some classes still took the opportunity to have their lunch in the sunshine on a Winter's day! Look how happy our yr 2's are! It must be Friday!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend and stay warm,
