Parent’s Committee Meeting – Minutes

Last Friday the Parent’s Committee met to reflect on our achievements year to date and to plan our future events. 

• Our last three events, Africa Day, Fête de la Musique and Bastille Day/Paris Olympics were all well attended and profitable. 
• We will introduce an informal booking system to manage demand for face painting at future events. 
• We will report our half yearly profits shortly. 
• Preparations for Father’s Day are well underway, noting that we need extra volunteers for the 12pm – 2pm time slot for the stall. 
• Tickets for the Father’s Day breakfast will be on sale next week. 
• The logistics of running a school disco were discussed.  Input from the community is sought on how you would like this event run (likely early term 4) – please contact your convenor to provide feedback.
• Rides for the End of Year Party have been reserved. The Apparents will perform. Additional community logistics support will be needed to run the bar in 2024. 
• PC will investigate the cost of purchasing a portable stage.

Father’s Day Breakfast Coordinator: We need an additional coordinator to assist with the Father’s Day Breakfast. The role includes menu planning, catering and logistics. You need to be available on the 29th August for preparation and the morning of 30th August. You will be assisted by an experienced coordinator and a group of volunteers. 

Father’s & Carer’s Day Breakfast and Stall: Our events for Father’s/Carer’s Day will be held on Friday, 30 August. 

The Apparents Band – Vocalist sought

We’re Looking for a Talented Parent for The Apparents!  Are you a passionate and versatile vocalist looking to join an exciting new band? The Apparents are on the hunt for a dynamic singer to help bring our unique sound to the next level. About Us: We’re a new form band that just gathered for the Music festival back in July. We’re dedicated to play all music genre and perform with energy.  Everybody is welcome to have a try.

General Matters

Child Safety: A reminder that all parents/carer’s who wish to volunteer at CJC must have a Working With Children Check – it is free for volunteers and you can apply online here: Working with Children Check (service.vic.gov.au) 

Friday Treats:   Over winter, we will sell pain aux chocolate ($4) from Reverie Café after school from 3.30pm until 3.45pm. 

CJC Families Facebook Group: Did you know that we have a CJC Facebook Group called CJC Families?  The page is used to inform our community of CJC Events, sell 2nd hand uniform, find a babysitter and more. The page is private, and you must be a CJC community member and answer the questions to join. 

EFM - Call for Volunteers: The EFM provides a range of francophone services to our CJC community, including running the ever-popular EFM after school activities. The EFM is looking for additional volunteers to support the management of these programs and other programs. Joining the EFM IS a great way to deepen your francophone connections at CJC and beyond. Please contact president@efm.org.au if you can assist. 

Gardening Club:  We also have some interested parents who have established a CJC Parent Gardening Team to assist Madame Wilson’s STEM and Garden Program.  Contact us at caulfieldjuniorpc@gmail.com
