VM/VPC

Last Thursday I headed down to Melbourne with Kelly and Poppa John to attend the Victorian School Garden Awards.  It was an early start to the day.  When we checked in there were lots of primary school kids and a few of us seniors there.  During the event Poppa John got to show the primary kids how to hug a tree.  We won a Regional award for the work that the VCE- Vocational Major boys had done.  We received a certificate and a voucher to the value of $350 to spend on garden products.  Next year the VCE -VM group should do this as a project and apply to the Garden Awards Program.  Thank you, Sharon and Kelly, for submitting the Garden Program Award application for us.

Within their junior science elective Creating Our World, year 8 and 9 students have explored their understanding of Biology participating in multiple practicals.  Investigating the living systems students used microscopes to compare animal and plant cells, completed a dissection of a sheep heart exploring the circulatory system, to most recently summing up their understanding through exploring the connections between the digestive system, excretory system and respiratory system by dissecting a rat.
