Dance Showcase

Friday 24 November

The Years 8-12 students will be performing in the End of Year Dance Showcase on Friday November 24. The show takes place at 5.30pm at The Farrall Centre and will include a range of routines choreographed throughout Semester 2. All family and friends are invited to celebrate the hard work of the Dance classes, and there is no cost for the event.

High School Service Gala Day

Wednesday 22 November

Next Wednesday 22 November, the High School will be hosting a Service Gala day. Tutor Groups will be supporting a combined Free Dress Day for Quaker Service Australia (QSA) alongside a Soccer match on the Bottom Green. Students are invited to wear free dress in QSA colours (black, white and red) for a gold coin donation.

 

In addition, the High School Stewardship Committee will be running a refreshments stall with drinks and icey poles for the Relay for Life Committee to kick-off the 2024 Friendlies’ Relay for Life campaign. There will be a card reader available.

High School ­Year 8 Geology Excursions

As part of the current Geology unit, all Year 8 students will be undertaking a full day excursion to Sandy Bay foreshore and the University of Tasmania led by University of Tasmania staff. Students will be learning about mineral deposits and rock formations and have the opportunity to discuss with postgraduate students about their studies and future job prospects. Students will be bussed to and from the excursion from school with three classes attending on Wednesday November 22nd and the remaining 3 classes attending on Friday 24th November.

Students will leave school after morning tutor and return back to school by the end of the school day.

 

Students will need to wear sports uniform including solid footwear. They should also bring a hat, sunscreen, thermals, beanie, warm jacket and raincoat. Students will need to bring a drink, morning tea and lunch. Personal medication such as epipens and asthma puffers also need to be provided.

 

Please note that Dance students scheduled to attend the excursion on Friday 24th will need to attend the Dance Showcase rather than the Geology Excursion.

Colony 47 Christmas Appeal

November 13 - December 8

Each year Colony 47 host a Christmas lunch providing food, companionship and Christmas spirit to people in need. The event has been running for 40 years, and relies on donations of time, food, gifts and funds. This year, Unwin 4 and Hodgkin 7 are helping to support Colony 47 by collecting gift cards, children’s toys and both male and female toiletries. If any members of our community are able to support this drive to support the Christmas Lunch please bring donations to Lainey (Unwin 4), Casey-Rae (Hodgkin 7), or the High School Office. Donations will be accepted from November 13-December 8.
