Student well-being is a crucial factor in how students learn. At Springvale Rise Primary School it is our priority to create and maintain a safe, supportive and inclusive school environment consistent with our school’s values. SRPS provides a wide range of student wellbeing supports focusing on student safety, forming and maintaining positive relationships, citizenship and resilience. Students are encouraged to demonstrate the school values throughout their time at the school.

We take a proactive approach to supporting student wellbeing and have practices in place to teach our students to self-regulate behaviour, be responsible and accountable for their choices and consider the positive impact they can have on others.

We are part of a government initiative called ‘Respectful Relationships’ in which we teach our students ways to create and maintain positive healthy relationships. Our staff model positive relationships as part of a whole school approach as well as challenge gender stereotyping and the negative impact they can have on our students. Strengthening students’ ability to form positive relationships leads to positive impacts on student’s academic outcomes, their mental health, classroom behaviour, and relationships within the school community.

At Springvale Rise Primary School, we follow the principle of inclusion. This ensures we make reasonable adjustments to accommodate the diverse need of our students, not limited to, but including Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islander students, students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, students with disabilities and students who are vulnerable. These reasonable adjustments ensure that all students at our school can participate in the education on the same basis. Our staff use ‘student focused’ inclusive language and focus on the potential in every single student to achieve success at school. 

At SRPS students have the right to:

• participate fully in their education
• feel safe, secure and happy at school
• learn in an environment free from bullying, harassment, violence, discrimination or intimidation
• express their ideas, feelings and concerns.

At SRPS students have the responsibility to:

• participate fully in their educational program
• display positive behaviours that demonstrate respect for themselves, their peers, their teachers and members of the school community
• respect the right of others to learn
