A Spotlight on Learning in the SLC on Heights Campus
In writing the Grade 5 students have been working hard preparing for their leadership speeches to obtain a role for 2024. They have put in a great amount of effort in brainstorming, writing and practising their speeches during class. The students have taken on teacher and peer feedback and used this to improve to ensure they were ready to present to the future SLC students.
During this time, the grade 6’s began writing reflections and memories from their years at Springvale Rise Primary School. They have been working hard to write down all the highlights and events they participated in over their 7 years at primary school. As their time comes to an end at Springvale Rise, they have done a fantastic job in writing such detailed and vivid reflections of their fondest memories.
Over the last 4 weeks in reading the SLC completed a unit of work around the novel ‘The One and Only Ivan.’ The students utilised their skills of becoming a text analyst by analysing the characters, themes and thinking beyond the text. The students did an excellent job in developing their understanding and thoroughly enjoyed the story.
During projects the students were learning how to persist when working towards a goal. The goal was to practise the skill of knitting. Although it was challenging the students showed great persistence and created loom pieces.
