Happy 10th Anniversary

Last week, we recognised the 10th Anniversary of the "beginnings" of the City of Greater Dandenong Community Hubs! The event was a genuine celebration of the work that all the Community Hubs in our network do; bringing people together to CONNECT, SHARE and LEARN. Our fabulous school captains from Springvale Campus conducted the Acknowledgment of Country on the day whilst our very own Mrs. Julie Raciti was one of the MCs.

I was also very privileged to say a few words, sharing how our Hubs came to be and how they have changed over the last decade. I also shared some words of thanks for all the Hub mums that have walked through our doors over the last ten years because all of the staff from our school have learnt a great deal from them and genuinely valued the experience.  ES staff member Amina Rezayiee also shared her lived experience from being a Hub participant ten years ago.  There were speeches from Dr Sonja Hood (CEO of Community Hubs Australia), Councillor Richard Lim and other Hub participants / connections.  It was truly a fantastic day of celebration!

And finally a special shout out to our fabulous Hub Leaders who have shaped the Springvale Rise Community Hub to be as fabulous as it is today: Mel Mumford, Nicole Coates and Julie Raciti alongside Jumabi Mohammad Ali who too has played a key role along the way.

In actual fact I don't think our Hub opened its doors officially until 2014 (although we were funded in 2013) so maybe there are more celebrations to come!!  Watch this space. . . .

Keep smiling.
