Principal's News

Journeying Together in Christ

At Assembly last week I spoke to the children about not wishing the end of the year to come too quickly. We often look too far ahead and do not enjoy the moments each day. Although the end of the year is near and holidays are enticing, we need to enjoy each experience and work through any challenges.

Our NEW Foundation children completed their second visit last week. We had some fun with Mr Mac singing some old favourites, like 'Old McDonald had a farm..."

I received a hand written letter from a student during the week, thanking me for being Principal and getting new students to the school for 2024. A simple message at times has the greatest impact.

PLEASE, SORRY, THANK YOU - words I asked the students to use for the rest of the year.

Advent begins this Sunday 3rd December. The new liturgical season begins and the colour violet will be worn and seen at mass.

Mk 13:33-37 "Stay awake! You never know when the Lord will come." We start our preparation for the birth of Jesus.

Community Group

Next Tuesday we have our final meeting for the year. The group have been wonderful all year and parents have assisted at different times. In recent times, some parents assisted with the NEW Foundation visits. They offered morning tea, chatted with the parents and had the Pre-loved uniform shop open. Thank you!

Class Allocations and Staffing update 2024

I announced in the previous newsletter that Miss Lexi Coomans and Mrs Jess Moodie will be the Foundation teachers in 2024. We will be having three Foundations groupings for 2024 so we will finalise the third teacher in the coming weeks. This is a first for St Luke's and this is a wonderful achievement for St Luke's.  As communicated a while ago, Rosanna Finn is joining us from St. Brendan's as a full-time experienced teacher. Jennifer McKillop and Chris Summers joining us a Deputy Principals. Tony McDonald accepted a role at Sacred Heart Tatura. Breanna Levesque will be leaving on one year's leave without pay to join St. Joseph's Numurkah as a classroom teacher.

In past communications (Newsletter & PAM) I communicated the following:

Alex Wooden and Bella Walker will be moving on. Alex will be exploring our country on a work/travel journey and Bella accepted a full-time Performing Arts position at Guthrie Street Primary.

We continue to work through current staffing arrangements and we will announce classroom teachers in the final newsletter and on PAM.

See attached our Class Allocation Policy

Uniting Care will communicate before the end of the year if the holiday programs will be offered at St Luke's.
