It's great to see everyone back at Croydon SDS. Students have transitioned well into the new school year. This year we welcome 11 new students to our school, 6 in Foundation and 5 others across sections of the school. All students have had a positive start, and have quickly formed new friendships with peers.
All classrooms have been working through the Positive Start Program over these first two weeks. The Positive Start Program was developed by our SWPBS team last year for classes to create a positive environment and climate for learning for the year by explicitly teaching expected behaviours and routines, as well as developing student relationships for effective teamwork and student voice in the classroom.
As you are aware, at the end of last year we appointed new teaching staff for this year; Dave, Hannah, Justin, Belinda and Rosie are settling into Croydon SDS and their new class and role well. Our new Inclusion Outreach Coach, Jacqui has also started and is enjoying going into classrooms and meeting everyone.
Mary has commenced as our new front office staff member, and is quickly becoming a familiar and friendly face to the school community as she greets people at the office and on the phone.
On Wednesday 21 February, 3-5pm we welcome families to Croydon SDS, to visit their child’s classroom and specialist classrooms to meet the staff, (teachers and ES). Classrooms will be set up for a typical school day, for you to see their learning environment, visual schedules and other learning resources. Classroom timetables will be handed out, and staff will discuss class programs, activities and structures; parents/carers will also have an opportunity to ask questions.
It will be open afternoon and staff will be based in their classrooms / specialist classes, therefore families can come along at any time during the two hours that works best for you.
During the afternoon we invite families to ask questions about how to use Compass and see our building project plans. There will also be a sausage sizzle provided for those hungry tummies!
Please find the following documents attached for information pertaining to School Council, the 2024 election process, dates and the call for nominations. We have 3 vacant parent member positions for the 2024-2026 term.
Hard copies of nomination forms can also be obtained from the office.
