Red X Weekend

"Last weekend, the GNLC Red X Racing team had the privilege of travelling down to Princes Park in Maryborough to participate in a 24-hour bike race, competing against other schools from all over Australia. The Energy Breakthrough focuses on using human-powered vehicles (HPV) and aims to teach about renewable energies while students race around a closed-circuit track in teams.

Across the 3 bikes, GNLC's Red X squad had 19 riders who worked in teams together to get quicker and quicker. From experienced riders passing on tips onto the newer riders to everyone just sharing their different experiences on the track, it really did bring us together. The weekend provided us the opportunity to bond as a team and further develop friendships across various year levels as well as give us the chance to reap the rewards of our hard effort and perseverance from the training we have done across the entire year.

Despite the continuous setbacks of the pouring rain and inability to get through to our pits on the Friday morning, our team pushed through scrutineering and presentations (some even without the actual bike) with ease. A personal highlight for me was seeing the competitive nature really come out of everybody, from the ex-riders watching on as a part of our pit crew, as well as the riders, staff, and parent helpers. The weekend truly showcased what Red X Racing is all about - teamwork and having a good time no matter the conditions."

2024 School Fee Information

School Fee information for 2024 has now been released by the Governing Board. An email has been sent to all families. However, we have had some technical issues with the email system, so if you have not received your copy, please either check your ‘junk email’ box, or contact the GNLC finance office at finance@goodnews.vic.edu.au to receive another copy. Fee information is also available on the College website.

Enrolment for 2024

At this time of the year, we remind all families who might be planning to move on from the College in 2023 to please let us know. There are a number of reasons that we do this, but in particular, it means we are able to:

  • Plan facilities for 2024 (such as the number of lockers, chairs, tables etc.)
  • Arrange staffing to ensure we have the right number of quality teachers
  • Schedule a student and staff timetable for lessons and activities
  • Offer positions to families on our waiting list to join the College

If you are planning on continuing at Good News in 2024, then you don't need to do anything further. If you are a family with child/ren from Prep to Year 11 in 2024, and you are considering leaving the College you must provide notice in writing to the Admissions Officer admissions@goodnews.vic.edu.au.
