Book Week 19th – 23rd August

Book Week celebrations around the country began with The Children’s Book Council of Australia announcing the winners of the 2024 Book of the Year Awards. Scar Town by Tristan Bancks Younger Fiction 8-12-year-olds; Gymnastica Fantastica by Briony Stewart Early Childhood Book of the Year; Timeless by Kelly Canby Picture Book of the Year and Country Town by Isodel Martyn Factual Book of the Year.

Scholastic Book Fair 2nd – 6th September

The library will host our annual Scholastic Book Fair in the Gym foyer for one week only. The Book Fair is a mobile bookshop supplied by Scholastic with hundreds of quality children’s fiction, non-fiction, activity books and novelty stationary for sale. Payments can be made with cash or eftpos. Our school will receive Scholastic Reward points with every purchase made! The Book Fair will be open before school and after school - more information to come next week via Compass.

Book Week Dress Up Day - Friday 6th September

All students are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. Please encourage children to make a costume using items found at home or to create their own using paint and cardboard - please don’t rush out and spend lots of money on a pre-made costume!

Dress-up day is optional; if children do not wish to dress up, they must come to school in their school uniform. 

Just a friendly reminder that all completed books must be entered on to The Premiers Reading Challenge website no later than Friday 30th August. I will then verify all participants books before sending off the final report on 6th September.

On behalf of myself and the teaching staff, I’d like to thank the following parents for their help in the library during my recent long service leave. Thank you for volunteering your time and for doing such an awesome job of shelving the returned books and keeping the library tidy and operational. Your help was greatly appreciated!
