LEAP Program

Day of Challenge Semester 2
On Friday 9 August, our LEAP students took part in their Semester 2 Day of Challenge, with a focus on the Olympic Games. Students spent the morning getting active and creative, working in teams to create and demonstrate brand new “Olympic events” with equipment such as balloons, hula hoops, paper cups and balancing stones. After this, they investigated some of the most influential Olympians of modern history and created picture-book biographies for them in the style of the ‘Little People, Big Dreams’ collection.
Scienceworks Excursion
On Friday 26 July, our LEAP students attended an excursion to explore Scienceworks Museum and the Planetarium. Students were able to engage with a variety of scientific concepts through the many different interactive exhibitions on display, followed by a show in the Melbourne Planetarium where they had the opportunity to learn about Australia’s skies from an Indigenous perspective and compare this to the European understandings of the night sky in the Southern Hemisphere.
