Father's Day Breakfast

On Thursday 29 August, St Xavier's hosted our annual Father's Day Breakfast as a way to celebrate the important men in our  lives. The proceeds from our BBQ raised $335.00 for Missions. Thank you to everyone that took the time to come and we hope you all enjoy Father's Day on Sunday 1 September.

Year 3 Gunnible Orchard Excursion

On Monday August 26, Year 3 ventured out for the first time to the Gunnible Orange Orchard. The weather was amazing despite being a little boggy underfoot in places. We were greeted by Charlotte and one of her very friendly dogs (Peppa) who made quite an impression on the children. Once off the bus the first stop was picking Afourer mandarins - they were delicious!

Then back onto the bus for a look at the packing shed and an introduction to the other farm dog who was as equally pleased for the attention. Final stop was down in the orange orchard, where we were introduced to the pickers who were from Tonga. We watched them operate the cherry picker and fill the bins (they hold around 500kg). We then picked our own oranges to take home. We then enjoyed morning tea in the orchard - bliss!  A big thank you to Charlotte and Rob Hoddle for showing us around their beautiful orchard, the students (and teachers) loved it and had many facts to share on our return to school.
