Bunnings BBQ

On Saturday, 29th June, the Interact Club of McClelland College hosted a BBQ at Bunnings Frankston, raising money for YPark. This not-for-profit organisation provides mental health services to youth in Frankston.  Despite the Arctic conditions, the team was kept busy by a steady stream of customers, who generously opened their wallets in support of a very worthy cause.  Particularly gratifying was seeing so many different students participating on the day, especially as it required them to give up the first day of their holidays.  This included members of the Interact Club, who spearheaded the event, former students from the College, and other non-Interact members.  The team’s hard work led to the Club raising $2000 for YPark, which will be put towards offering additional services to the youth of Frankston. Well done, team!

Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA)

This Saturday, two of our Interact Club leaders, Lily Hosking and Kirralea Goodall, will be representing the College at the Rotary Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA), which is being hosted at Lyndale Secondary College.  On the day, students will be required to represent a different nation, advocating for global change on their behalf.  This year, the McClelland team will be representing India, with the focus for their debate on resolving the South China Sea issue.  Other topics for discussion will be guaranteeing food security, promoting democracy, and protecting the environment.  We look forward to hearing about your progress, Lily and Kirralea, and wish you all the best for the event!

Cook Off for Afghanistan

Back by popular demand, this term is the world-famous cook-off for Afghanistan!  A mainstay of the McClelland College community for the past two years, the event involves members of the Interact Club, supported by Ms. Lufti, cooking a banquet of exotic Afghan dishes to raise money for an orphanage in Afghanistan.  The lunch will take place on Tuesday, 27th August, with McClelland staff and Year 11 and 12 students able to purchase a meal through Compass for $25.  Ensure you get in early to secure your lunch for the day, as this is one event you do not want to miss!

Interact Club Fun Run

A new event on the 2024 calendar for the Interact Club of McClelland College is the Fun Run, which will occur on Saturday, 14th September, at Core24 Gym in Frankston.  This event was initiated by the Interact Club of Frankston High School, which generously invited us to participate in a high-octane event to raise funds for Community Support Frankston. This organisation supports many people in need throughout the Frankston electorate.  The event's purpose is for each Interact Club to ensure that their treadmill is kept active from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm that afternoon.  Students participating will seek to raise money based on either distance or time run.  Anyone interested in participating is invited to speak with Mr Hemsley, who can add you to the event.
