Years 8/9 Snow Camp
On the 5th of August, 24 year 8 and 9 students left for the five-day snowboarding camp. On the first day, we traveled to camp, stopping by Yea and Mansfield to stretch our legs and eat dinner. We finally arrived at camp at about 7:30 pm and went to bed before getting up early the next morning.
After an unwelcome 6 am start, we arrived at Mt Buller by 8 am each day and had a lesson with professional instructors who helped a group of the same skill level until 10 am. As it was our first time, we were in the beginner group and learned various skills like how to skate and how to stand up for more than 5 seconds. However, by the end of the three days on the mountain we could easily snowboard down the mountain without falling over, most of the time.
After our morning lessons, we had time to refine our skills, have fun with our friends, and have many snowball fights around Bourke Street and A-BOM. After a scrumptious lunch at A-BOM cafe, on our 2nd and 3rd day on the mountain, we made our way up to Burnt Hut for a change of scenery and caught the Northside Express back to our bus. Overall, we all had an amazing time learning new skills and making new friends along the way.
Big thanks to the teachers who helped to organise this event and to all the amazing Mt Buller staff who provided the group with fun memories and yummy lunches throughout the week.
